Il primo argomento di cui vorrei trattare è qualcosa di cui non ho parlato nel vecchio forum:

Former Cleveland Cavalier Ilgauskas to retire
Former Cav Zydrunas Ilgauskas says he plans to retire after 13 NBA seasons, all but one spent with the Cavaliers.
CLEVELAND: Former Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas told the Plain Dealer today he is retired after 13 NBA seasons and two trips to the NBA Finals.
Ilgauskas, 36, spent nearly his entire career as a Cav and helped the franchise evolve from an also-ran to an Eastern Conference champion in 2007. He spent last season with the Miami Heat and former Cavaliers teammate LeBron James.
The center owns Cavaliers career records for games played (771), rebounds (5,904) and blocks (1,269). He is second in points with 10,616.
He ranks 40th all-time in the NBA with 0.81 shots blocked per game.
"Enough is enough," Ilgauskas said. "My body is beat up and I'm tired physically. There is no age limit, but everyone knows when it's time."
Ilgauskas is in Cleveland today attending the opening of an urgent care facility that's owned by his wife. The family has two small kids, who attend school in Miami.
"I want to spend more time with my family," he said. "I have spent the past 15 years living out of a suitcase. It's time."
He appeared in just nine playoff games last season for the Heat, averaging 11.6 minutes and 3.6 points.
It's believed the player simply known as "Z" will have opportunities to work for the Cavaliers' organization, but he would not address the topic. His immediate plans are to visit his parents in Lithuania before returning to Miami.
Ilgauskas said he's been contemplating retirement for the past few seasons. He knew he had played his final game, Ilgauskas said, after the Heat was eliminated by Dallas in the Finals.
He's most proud of his longevity after early foot injuries and surgeries threatened his career. He is a two-time NBA All-Star, who averaged 13 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots per game.
"I will always think of Cleveland as my home," Ilgauskas said. "This was my kids' first home.
"There are so many great memories here and I was lucky to play in one place for so long. To experience so many lows and then so many highs was special. There were the division titles and the conference championship. The early disappointments made the winning that much better."
One of his favorites moments was capturing the Eastern Conference title at the Q against Detroit. The victory propelled the Cavs into their only NBA Finals appearance in which they were swept by San Antonio.
"I really enjoyed those years, but I would tell the young guys not to take anything for granted. We made those trips to the playoffs and had all those national TV games, but nothing lasts forever. I was there when the arena was empty. I can appreciate the whole experience now."

Nulla direi.

Kyrie Irving hopes to start for Cavs
by Marc Spears
With all due respect to Baron Davis, Kyrie Irving wouldn’t mind taking over the Cleveland Cavaliers’ starting point guard job in training camp.
The Cavs have the option of using their amnesty clause on Davis to waive him and remove the $28.7 million he’s owed the next two seasons from the team’s salary for cap and tax purposes. If Davis stays, Irving said he’d welcome being mentored by the veteran. The Cavs could decide to start both in the backcourt with Irving, the No. 1 pick in the June NBA draft, at point guard.
“It would be a great opportunity, but a little hard to see Baron go just based on having a veteran point guard there to help you make your transition,” Irving told Yahoo! Sports. “That’s something that I’m going to lose. But having the keys to the franchise is something that I’m excited about if it does happen. Either way, it will be a great opportunity with Baron or without Baron.”
When asked specifically if he’d rather take the point guard job now or learn under a veteran, Irving said: “I’d rather try to have the ability to go. I’ve been waiting for so long that I just want to jump right in, learn on the fly and just see how it goes.”
Irving’s now glad he decided to declare for the 2011 draft after just one season at Duke. When it looked like the NBA’s lockout could cause the entire season to be canceled, he second-guessed his decision, especially when he was taking classes at Duke during the summer. He tweeted his frustration after watching Duke beat Michigan State on Nov. 15 to give Mike Krzyzewski the NCAA men’s Division I record for coaching victories.
“There were definitely a couple points, but I never really regretted my decision,” Irving said. “I knew things would get better. It’s just about being patient. Honestly, any kid that left school early and loved it as much as I did and you see your teammates all the time and the coaching staff and they’re doing well, it’s going to bring up a whole ball of emotions like it did for me.
“There were bad times. But me being able to be the No. 1 pick, reach my dream and take care of my family is something I can live with for the rest of my life.”
Irving awoken by two of his friends early on the morning of Nov. 26 to tell him the NBA had reached a new labor agreement.
“It took a lot of weight off my shoulders,” he said. “Now I really don’t have to play the waiting game anymore or kind of explore other options to compensate for me not being able to achieve my dream. Being able to have this deal done is a sense of relief, a big sense of relief.”
Had the lockout continued, Irving was going to check out his overseas options. Now he plans on finding a place to live in Cleveland. He says he’s in “pretty good shape” from working out over the summer and claims he’s completely healed from a toe injury that limited him to 11 games last season.
The Cavs also won’t be facing many expectations this season after winning just 19 games last season.
“It will be a great opportunity to learn on the fly and get as much experience as possible in the first year,” Irving said. “It is a rebuilding team, so there are going to be some good times and some tough times. Everything is not going to happen overnight and that’s the attitude I have to go in with.”

Ehlo to take job with Cleveland Cavaliers
Steve Bergum The Spokesman-Review

A source close to the Eastern Washington University men’s basketball program confirmed Saturday morning an earlier rumor that Eagles’ assistant Craig Ehlo has accepted a coaching job with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers.
According to the source, the Cavaliers will formally announce the addition of Ehlo to head coach Byron Scott’s staff, where he will serve as a main assistant, on Monday.

First-year EWU head coach Jim Hayford, when contacted prior to his team’s Saturday night nonconference road game against Ehlo’s alma mater, Washington State, would not publicly confirm nor deny the report.
“All I’m thinking about right now is how best to play Washington State,” said, Hayford, who gave Ehlo, a veteran of 14 NBA seasons – seven of which were spent in Cleveland, his first college coaching job last March after he, himself, was hired away from Whitworth University by Eastern. “I know he’ll be beside me on the bench in Pullman tonight, which is great.
“It’s always great when you get to coach with one of your best friends.”
Ehlo, a member of the WSU Hall of Fame, worked extensively as a television analyst after retiring from the NBA and moving his family to Spokane. But his only previous coaching experience was at Rogers High School, where he served as the Pirates head coach for three years (1998-2001).

Attendiamo l'ufficialità da Cavs.com ma...Bentornato a bordo Craig!!

(Penso prenda il posto di Jent che se non sbaglio aveva avuto offerte altrove prima del lockout...ma forse ricordo male)
